Daikin Park sits in the middle of downtown Houston, so the hotels a visitor already knows are the same ones inside walking distance of the gates, with no highway-exit cluster to settle for. Walking distance is the filter for every pick below.

Downtown Houston room rates run on the convention calendar, not the Astros schedule. A big show at the George R. Brown, a Toyota Center event, or a marquee series can each push rates up on their own, and a convention that lands on the same weekend as a homestand is the worst case for your wallet. Check what else is booked downtown on your dates before you assume a random Tuesday game means a cheap room.

Across the street

The Westin Houston Downtown is the closest branded room to the gates. Marriott’s own page places it across the street from Daikin Park, in the heart of downtown and walkable to the George R. The convention-district tier

Marriott Marquis Houston is the big convention hotel next to Discovery Green and the George R. Brown, and it comes with a built-in reason for a baseball fan to book it: Biggio’s, the sports bar named for Astros Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, is inside. Figure roughly a ten-minute walk to the park.

This is the tier to book for a trip built around baseball rather than the hotel itself: a fan who plans to spend the day at the park, in the downtown bars, and around Discovery Green, and just needs a reliable base a few blocks from the gates to come back to.

Downtown luxury

Four Seasons Hotel Houston is the downtown high-end option, marketed on its proximity to Toyota Center and Daikin Park. Pick it when you want the hotel to be part of the trip.

The historic picks

Downtown Houston has a couple of older, character-forward hotels that come up for visitors who want a building with a story instead of a chain. Hotel Icon, an Autograph Collection property, and the Sam Houston Hotel are the two most commonly cited historic options in the walkable downtown core.

  • One game, shortest walk: The Westin Houston Downtown, across the street from the park.
  • A trip built around baseball: Marriott Marquis Houston. Biggio’s is in the building and Discovery Green is out front, so pre-game and post-game both happen without a car.
